Liverpool FC Agrees Sale To Baseball Owners

The proposed sale of Liverpool Football Club to the owners of the Boston Red Sox has been agreed, as exclusively revealed last night on Sky News.

But the deal with John W Henry is facing a legal challenge from the current owners of the club, Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr.

Breaking the news before an official announcement on the club's website, Sky News City editor Mark Kleinman said : "Last night, a deal was agreed to sell Liverpool Football Club to New England Sports Ventures, the owner of the Boston Red Sox."

Club chairman Martin Broughton told Liverpool's official website : "I am delighted that we have been able to successfully conclude the sale process, which has been thorough and extensive.
